Hello,
I am having a problem with my computer. I had a virus and got rid of it but had to rebuild my profile as the old one was corrupt. It was working fine, slow but fine. Now I am getting a blue screen when I boot up the computer with an error message on it saying Windows experienced a fatal error and had to shut down. if this problem persists please contact your adminsitrator. I am not a computer wiz. I know a little but not a whole lot about them. I have tried to boot up in safe mode and it looks like it will boot I get the windows screen then it goes right back to the blue screen. Can anyone help me and possibly walk me through it? The computer isnt that old maybe 2 years if that and I have lots of family pictures and videos and documents that I would like to save if possible. I never realised how much I would miss my computer when its gone so any help would be appreciated!

Please help me and email me anything to get it up and running.

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

You can do a "repair install" of windows XP that will not erase your data. I will want you to reapply ALL of the Microsoft updates which can take many hours. The following link gives instructions:

Hi
I would love some help. I am not computer stupid but not as knowledgable as I would like. But I am still having issues with it. I havent taken it to anyone as of yet as I dont want to loose everything on it. I have pictures of my kids and home videos and if I c an save them I would like that. I have office programs (Microsoft Office) with files I would like to save as well. I am still getting the blue screen with the Systems error on it. If you know how to get to my hard drive and get it to boot up so I can at least try to salvage some of the stuff I would appreciate it. I have a removable hard drive so maybe I could just swap it over and then worry abouyt the computer getting clean or factory restored later. Thanks again.

You should disconnet your internet first. Then you find another hard driver, set this new hard driver to be master driver. Set your old hard driver to be slave driver. Instal new operater system which is same your old driver's system to your new hard driver. You could save your family photo ater you done everything. Good luck!

The information contained in this thread is not helpful at all. You need to remove your hard drive from your broken computer and put it into a working computer.

HI Everyone! I NEED help! I have a HP Pavilion a6040n, with Windows Vista Home Premium system on it! All that shows up is a TOTALLY light blue screen, with my word document file on it! When I close the document file all I am left with is just a light blue screen. I can get on to the internet if I use task manager and log onto the homepage and go from there. But that's the only thing I can do. I can't get my mail or anything else! I am in betwen a beginner and medium computer knowledge person, so if you can help me in laymens terms I would appreciate it! ;-D sincerely Dawn

This happened to me this mornign we just put in the recovery dvds the store made when we purchased the computer and everything is golden. We got rid of nortons what a POS. Anti virus you pay for and it never works. My husbands laptop was killed by the same thing but he never had recovery disks made so I'm not sure what he can do about that we may have to pay tech to take care of it. My husband got AVAST for my desktop which was highly recommended and free. Good luck!

To the original question, I'm going to put up a thread link that might solve your issue. Our work computer wigged out yesterday and all day today I tried everything in the book to salvage the hard drive, because this being one of our work computers we have a lot of important files. That being said I know what you mean when you dont want to wipe the hard drive. http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-27775-pc-logs-on-then-off-again
Now at first glance you may not think it applies but I encourage you to read all the posts from PRBatman. Because the problem stated there is also virus related and it just might be your problem too. I plan tomorrow to put his suggestions to use, and I feel certain that that is my problem because it is exactly what everyone else had and it fixed it for them. Hope this works and not wasting your time. I know how frustrating it is to want info and can't get exactly what you need. But please look that thread over before you do anything drastic.

First u should remove the effect of virus from ur PC using the guidelines at http://jeshmal4u.blogspot.com/2009/10/remove-effect-of-virus-from-your.html .. then ur problem is Blue screen, so u can read this article & fix the auto restart problem http://jeshmal4u.blogspot.com/2009/11/blue-screen-error-and-auto-restart.html
