Man i have a problem on connecting to the server!!
It says something : this server is using protocol (47) and ur client (48) and some shit

hey u know what? Counter strike is just having probs, plus how do u get half life 2 for free?

same problem here

it seems like HL1 engine has been updated, or , at least, it's protocol

now, i can play only at some servers because the others give that damn response: i'm using a newer protocol version and, consequently, i can not connect.

Is it possible to downgrade the protocol's version? I was wondering if this problem has something to do with steam.dll.

When i open my counter strike 1.6 it just maximum 3 server

Hi, I am having the same problem too!! I have made a dedicated server, but when I open the server in CS, it just say: "This server is using another client (47) than yours (48)" How can that be?? I made that server, then it can't be another client!! How do I change that???!!

the server is using the old protocol, they need to run steam update on teh server, which only the server owner can.
u are usign protocol 48 because ur steam got updated, some servers are not updated. they have to be done manually.
and non-steam servers will stay protocol 47 until they find a solution.

NoooooBs go to www.tutorialecstrike.com and dwonlaod the swds 47+48 patcher its 3 mb
it will make ur server change frome "Counter-Strike-source" to "Counter-Strike" and your server will
be 47 protocol and it will be full in munites

@asutop I can surf the internet correctly but when I upgraded the steam it say the server is using older version of protocol (47) and ur client (48) and I dont remember but it happend after upgrade and >>>>>
can U tell how to change protocol (48) back to (47)

IT says (47) and (48) whatever... It's not the protocol problem... It is because of difference game you play... cs, cs1.5, cs cz use (47)protocol and hl2 engine game such as half life 2 cs source use (48)protocol... got me.. you have to get hl2 engine game to play (48) protocol

U have to download something called swds 47+48 patcher
this patch makes Ur server works on 47 and 48and if Ur server was counter-strike-source it will be changed to counter-strike when U download the swds patcher

Maybe I answered you late but I only managed to solve this problem this day. I had got the same problem till now. I have been only surfing because of this on the internet and have found this one. This will make no difference in playing protocol 47 engine servers or in protocol 48. there will be no need to switch back the protocol 48 to an older version. You have to download this based on this link, then install this onto the Counter-Strike 1.6 folder. That will solve the problem.

My friend if you have cs1.6 protocole 48 that means you have steam cs1.6
but when a server needs protocole 47 that means you need cs1.6 non steam which can be found for free. Just google it!!

cs1.6 with protocole 48 means it is steam but with protocole 47 means it is non steam and it can be downloaded for free just google it. That s what u need to open yr server!!

That protocol is for hacked Counter Strike game , did you BUY a cd or did your friend gave you cd , and the game is installed from 1 cd to 10 computers , making a copy of a original cd is ilegal so what you need to do is buy a original cd......
