Go into your home hub bthomehub.home => Advanced => Application Sharing => New => Then set the port settings to 3659-3659 and 6000-6000. Connects everytime then, never loose the connection again!!! (until you turn off the router, it has no memory)

I have got the black home hub and i am having the same problem, i have switched the dmz, i have opened ports, i have changed the media server setting on my playstation as insrtucted by EA sports and have taken my firewall off, all to no provail. I have contacted both BT and EA, EA say that i am losing extensive data from my connection which looks like a firewall which is stopping me from playing games online. i have contacted BT about this and they say as far as they can see there is nothing wrong with my connection, and when the firewall is turned off there is nothing else to stop me from being connected. BT also went onto say they have no other record of anybody listing the same problem, which i argued the toss with as there are many forums on the internet to show that most people suffering with connection lost is from BT customers. It feels like i am hitting my hbead up abrick wall at the moment and am getting no where fast, if anybody has any other ideas please contact me and if you are unluvky enough to have the same problem please please please contact BT and report the problemas other wise this situation will just keeping going on and affecting other poor sods who choose BT as their isp.

Its an absolute joke, i dont see how BT can get away with it as they advertise the fact that you can play games online, where as in reality you cant. im in a predicament that ive only just signed a 12 month contract with BT and therefore am stuck with this crap home hub. well any wayz good luck in your attempt to play online, just think how lucky you are when playing online when im still having the same problem 12 months down the line.

For a long time I had a problem with connecting to PSN. Once connected it would sign me out but most of the time it wouldn't sign in. It got me thinking that Sony are a bunch of amateurs when it comes to networking.

I've been through many forums looking for an answer. A few people tell you to change the PS3 or router settings, which work for a couple of hours. However I found the problem isn't with the router because I'm not ever losing a connection with Xbox Live. I decided to turn my head to the Laptop's in my flat, thinking that some program I'm running must be taking up a lot of bandwidth.

After some trial and error I finally hit the nail on the head. I am now after a few months of frustration enjoying PSN as I do with Xbox Live.

Why?

Programs such as BitTorrent and Limewire use up a lot of bandwidth. If your not sure what bandwidth is, Google it. Any program used for social sharing (illegal in the eyes of governments) must be closed before signing in to PSN. Yep, it's that simple. If I'm signed out of the PSN automatically then its because I've forgotten to close BitTorrent.

If you are not running any social sharing data program and have problems signing in to PSN, this solution will be of no use to you.

I had the same problem, kept losing the ps3 connection, also laptop and iphone connection, go into the hub settings and alter the output channel, default is channel 6, tried 9 first but settled on channel 11, everything works fine now without any loss / drop of connection.

You need to phone ea sports and register the problem with them, ive had the same problem since getting the bt home hub and its yet to be sorted.speak to customer options manager!! and report the problem with them as when i contacted them they by all accounts wasnt aware of any problems concerning internet connections and try for them to waver the contract. It looks like there isnt any repair job for this problem as ive been on x amount of forums given lots of different advice all to no provail. Ea sports have told me its to do with some sort of blockage that doesnt allow total ports opening to allow fifa 09. im sorry there isnt a magical answer that will sort your problem out, but im in the same predicament as yourself, and have tried every piece of advice given on forums, bt, ea sports and sony. if you need to contact me again feel free.

Hi mate, sorry to tell you this but your stuck with the problem until you can get rid of the homehub. i have the black homehub and have tried absolutely everything. ive been on x amount of forums and tried everything which people have told me, ive been in contact with ea sports, sony and bt, tried literally everything and nothing works, now i could tell you what everybody else has told me, but im not going to waste mine and your time, as the problem is with having the homehub. the day my contract runs out im switching to sky as noone has this problem with thier isp. sorry for the bad news but im in the same boat. just keep trying to connect and you might be lucky and get connected as every now and then i get lucky.

Go with virgin never had no trouble with mine, dont use bt or talktalk they are too slow, got virgin 20mb and it works fine, most telephone suppliers that arent done via cable are slow unless you live near the main box which are normally miles away, best off doing a speed test, if its less that 2mb you can forget playing games online.
ps you can cancel your contract if ur persistant cause they havent met with there argreement.

Under no circumstances should anyone consider Virgin as a BroadBand provider to play online games via the PS3.

I was with the dreaded AOL for 4 years previous & although had my issues with them in my time, it basically ran smoothly on a 2mb line and speed for PSN and it's online gaming.

I decided to up and leave because Battlefield Bad Company and Battlefield 1943 had issues with online and AOL. You could only log in after midnight and before 10am in the morning. Anyt other time of the day and no go.

So to cut a long story short I went with Virgin who on the phone explained I could have the same deal I have with AOL but unlimited and no fair usage etc including the fact that they did not trafic manage trafic shape or cap you on your unlimited account.

We went live with them and OH MY GOD. It turns out we are trafic managed and shaped and they cap you if you download anything more than 300kb in peak times and also if your in the top 5% bandwidth users of your area. Which is really terrible if your a gamer etcn because of the data that is used when playing upstreaming and down.

Their customer support is completely terrible, they pass you to anyone to get you off the line and will not let you out of contract for any real reason. I have contacted ofcom and explained this to them and they are going to deal with this matter, so if you feel you have had false advertising for your package contact them.

VIRGIN .... NOOOOOOOOO NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!

I was under the impression that VIRGIN were a reputable company, but I promise you it will be the worst 12 month contract which is worse than selling your bottom as a rentboy to a 56 year old sexy pervy or your soul to the devil. They simply do not care and do not support the PS3 from the start. You phone them up they tell you they dont support the ps3 or online gaming even though it's plastered on their site about online gaming.

I still have problems with my bt homehub and its the most frustrating thing i have encounted, i have gave up trying to solve the problem and counting the days left. I have lots of mates that are with sky for thier broardband and do not suffer with any connectivity problems. Thats my next move, and i advise it to be all of yours also.

Hi guys

i have to disagree with you on that i had bt b4i unfortunatley switched to sky.
i have my ps3 in my bedroom which is in the attic and with bt i had a gd connection id say 90% of the time
last month i switched over to sky cos my dad wanted sky tv.
sky said they would switch me over to them but the connection will be on/off for up2 10 days well it been 4wk and it still crap on the ps3 somedays it will let me sign in other days it wont or when i go on metal gear online it will sign me proper fast then when try to get into a game it says lost connection,
it is annoyin cos sky told me that they are better than bt when in fact they jus say that so you go with them, any1 experienced this with sky or is it jus me?

I had sky previously and went with BT and the black home hub, since this i can only play certain mates on fifa and its driving me mad. sky was fine before just had a problem with the broadband when we changed numbers and in the end left them as it was taking weeks wish i didnt. Does anyone know if i change my home hub to a new diffrent router will it solve the problem and will my broadband still work without the homehub

Thanks
