External Hard disk Problem!!

Hello,
hi! Well the problem i'm facing is that my external hard disk, theres 2 partitions. F drive and G drive... and when i double click or righ click open or explore any of them, it says F:\ is not accessible.. The disk is corrupted and unreadable.

so what i did was, i formatted G drive and not its working But everything inside is gone... and i don't know how to retrieve the files i lost! thats problem number 1!


problem number 2
is that, the F drive which i have not formatted or done anything with it is still not readable.. so could anyone please guide me on this. the files i have in F drive is really really important to me.. Is there any way to solve this problem? Please reply =)

Hey...just search 4 partition magic software...it will work 4 ur formated partition i think dats G....& about F i'll tell u if i get the answer...just search 4 partition magic ...it will help 4 G as wll as F drive...i think so !!!

HI sandeep what exactly partition magic will do with the drive which i can see but unable open or access any file in it.

I got the similar problem but I haven't formatted the exteranl drive. I can access only one partition but later 2 partition in it will take 5 min to display and If I try to open them I hanged by PC.

Hm? but what does that program do? does it actually retrieve all the files that i formatted? or does it make the F drive readable again?

Logically that software is just for making partitions, regarding you question if you can retrieve the files on your external hdd, the answer is NO, since you already formatted G:, the best thing that you can do is delete the partition to restore the functionality of the external HDD, you can do this effectively by using your Windows XP Reinstallation cd.. on the process of installing windows, the partitions on all the hdd on your pc (including the ext hdd) will be displayed, follow the instructions to delete the partitions G: and F: ---> intructions to delete the partition will be provided on the installation screen of WinXP

Probably you can recover your data with Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery. With the free trial you can find out which data are recoverable.
The problem may be caused by using NTFS partitions. Try Fat32.
