Hello,
i want to install windows xp but i have vista......
so how can install xp over vista in inspiron 1525 dell laptop...
plz help me

If you have the motherboard CD drivers, you should find the sata driver there

Ok do for insperon 1525 in the bios there is an option if you explore around a bit you well see in the hard drive section or the bootsection i forgot where exactly and or names but you well have the option to dissable flash boot and also switch from sata to ata which well let u use the windows xp installation. Then when u want to switch back you just select those options again but the opposite as last time. save then exit and install you well have to look around as i fkked my latop up to bad to run at all as of now. So i hope i pointed u in the right direction.

Hi

if you have problem with installing xp, please do this.

Disable the native-SATA in the BIOS
If the BIOS provides an option to disable the native-SATA configuration in the BIOS, do the following steps.
1. Turn off the computer.
2 Press the power button and press f10 to open the BIOS Setup.
3. Use the cursor to navigate the Configuration options to locate the Native-SATA setting.
If there is a SATA setting, select the Disable option, and then press F10 to save the change and restart the computer.
If there is no SATA setting, use one of the other options in this document to change the settings.

The answer about disabling the SATA ACHI was the correct one!

Worked for me, and thanks a lot to the guy that posted it---you also have to disable some type of "FLASH"
switch, but whenever I went to change the SATA settings as directed, it prompted and told me to do that also, and now it sees my hard drive (SATA, of course....) But you saved me alot of grief, so thanx!

I had the same problem with a Toshiba Satellite A300D, I could not find drivers for Sata. But when I looked into the bios menu, I saw an option like this: "Sata drive configuration: 1.AHCI and 2.Compatibility. I've select compatibility and I managed to install windows xp.

If your hard drive is not detected when you attempt to install, follow this guide. To get the driver, visit the manufacturers website, select your model and get drivers from there.

Hi,

Intel Matirx storage manager will solve the problem for sata driver.
Or Like black XP or you could find other sata driver support win xp.

Hi dear,
To install windows XP over Vista simply change the System Configuration(SATA NATIVE) do enable if disabled and disable if enabled already and save the change you made pressing F10 then start to installation it will be done

The problem with compaq packard bell hp is that they protected their hard drive you can not install windows xp if you do this normal, with normal i mean put in the cd in the drive and try to instal it. It does not work this way.
I advise you to open the notebook take out the hard drive and connect to a desktop pc if you have sata on this desktop pc disconect your cd/dvd conector and conect this one to your notebook hard drive, but first you need to make a copy from windows xp and put this copy on your desktop pc. After you have done this all you start your desktop pc and after your pc has started you double click on the windows xp symbole ( you made a copy on your hard drive) After this you can choose advanced instalation choose this one and choose the hard drive from your notebook. After instalion you can put your harddrive back in your notebook.

I think this is the way how it will work

[SOLVED]

Managed to install XP on toshiba A205-s5859 Notebook.
Steps..
1. Download SATA driver from Intel site
2. Use nLight to integrate SATA driver with your XP installation CD
3. Burn new XP CD using nLight with SATA drivers

and ur done :)
