Having problems with refresh rates

Hello,
i was at my brother's place yesterday and ive noticed that when he switches on his computer a message would pop up telling him that he is not in the optimum mode and that the recommended one was 1280*1024 60hz
anyone can tell me what can i do for him ?

dats the usual thing...ur computer doesnt support refresh rate beyond 1280*1024 60hz
simply just do right click on desktop -> properties -> settings -> disply -> in less or more option reduce the resolution...below "1280*1024 60hz" .....it will work....& if PC is not starting den start in safe mode by pressing F8 key at boot process.....!!!

He may have the resolution set to something like 800 x 600 (good of a old 14in CRT) looks like he has a LCD now. LCD give the best display at their recommended resolution (in this case 1280 x 1024). Follow Sandeep's instructions but set the resolution at exactly 1280x1024.

note that the size of icons and text will be smaller at 1280x1024 that at 800x600 or 1024x768.
