I have tried reopening it but still no luck!

Yes a security message appears asking me whether i want to allow opening the attachment. Then it attempts to load it up and this message comes up:

C:\Users\$hahed\AppDate\Local\Microsoft\Windows\TemporaryInternetFiles\Low\Content.IE5\RUCPX4NY\Aminoor's_CV[2].doc is not a valid Win32 Application.

So I try saving the document in 'My documents' and then try open it in which i get a reply:

C:\Users\$hahed\Documents\Aminoor's_CV.doc is not a valid Win32 Application

As for other attachments, I have been able to open Powerpoint docs, its jus the Word ones which is causing me the problem..

Any other suggestions maybe..??!! Thanks!!

Hi there.
I am having the same problem! The only way to get by is to save the file then open up word and find the file you just saved and open it up that way. I do not know why I can't open any word documents from my desktop or my documents. I have to first open word and open files that way. It is very annoying!!! If anyone has a solution to this please help!!!
Thanx

Sharon did you figure out a way to open the doc file without downloading it to your hard drive? This is making me crazy!

You may find that the issue is your default settings in your Outlook. My daughter just helped me with the " word attachment not opening problem". I would send an email to her with a word document embedded in a word document. No open!. The current default was to try to open the file in "full screen reading" mode. When you follow the on screen pop-ups, we were able to change the default to "print layout" mode and all worked fine for us. So take a look at your "view" tab in Office Outlook 2007, then to the left you will see "full reading screen". The to the right you will see options to prevent this mode from being used. Hope it helps!

Just forward the email to a web based email account like hotmail and download the file to your desktop from there, as a quick fix

You may have already tried this but did you try re-associating the file extension to MS Word at the OS level?

For example...word 2007 is *.docx...is *.docx associated to the executable for MS-Word?

Good Luck!!

---Jeff---
