Hello,
I just recently put a new power jack in my laptop.
Everything worked fine except for now my wireless does not work.
I have a Dell Latitude D620 laptop. I keep getting an error that says the radio is disabled.
I try to enable it and it does not save the setting. It reverts back to disabled.
The FN - F2 keys do not turn the wireless on. It does nothing.
The wireless switch on the side seems to be very loose and the LED does not light up.
I've went into the wireless utility to enable it and I still get the error that says it is disabled.
It is recognized in my device manager and it says it is working properly.
I'm game for taking the whole thing apart again....I just don't know what to do from this point.
Any guesses would be great.
I don't have the money to send it back to Dell and, of course, the warranty has expired.
Thanks,
Kimberly
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0
I had the same problem with a Sony Vaio. It seems one of the updates put entries in my registry to start a Vaio Lan Manager with Windows.

Hey guys, I have the same exact problem, my wireless switch is turned on for BZ56028 laptop. it does not detect any network regardless of settings. my lenovo laptop picks all available network. i deleted registry key, but no luck. has anyone found any solution to this? Wireless network indicates that "wireless network unavailable". I reset the hardware drivers multiple times, no luck. disable and enable wirelss device in BIOS, not luck, it worked for me randomly.

Hey, I had this problem on my acer aspire 3680. I think the radio got disabled when my roommate unplugged my ac adapter and the battery drained while the laptop was still on. The only thing that worked for me was to update/reflash my BIOS. It fixed the problem right away, so it may work for others as well.

I have found that most laptops have both a hardware switch and a software switch for wireless. On a Vaio I was asked to troubleshoot, the software switch was off. The control is usually accessed by keystroke or in my case, an icon in the System Tray on the Taskbar (lower right hand corner of your screen). The control for the Sony is not very noticable. Took a few minutes to uncover. I'm thinking the previous suggestions about deleted registry keys would also work because they delete the Sony software in favor of Windows management software. |
Ok so i dont know too much about computer and i was having the same problem the switch wouldnt turn my wireless on....i was reading a comment on a another website about this issue and someone said when u go to DEVICE MANAGER and see Network adapters and if you dont have broadcom 802 etc... then you dont have wireless available and i didnt have broadcom listed under network adapters but i did have NVIDIA nforce etc..so what i did was click on that clicked on drivers on top and updated the driver and now i have the wireless blue light and it works.....now i restarted my laptop and the same problem occured i couldnt get wireless so i did the same thing and updated driver then it said my driver was up to date and i still didnt have wirelesss.....so i rolled back driver...u have that option right under update driver in that window i told you about and then i updated again and it works.....so now i will try to log off and log back in and hopefuilly it will work but if not i know how to turn it on now. |
