Dear Friend

The massage Means what it says, the laptop cannot see the hard drive this can be cost by several reasons one, it can be the power connector of the hard drive, two it can be the cable that transport data to the hard drive, 'solution' try to open the laptop even though i know that other laptop are not easy to be opened and replace those cable that i missioned, before you can format a drive make sure that you make CD-ROM a first boot able device by a POST this is done when you boot a computer by pressing F10 depending on the machine your using some you press delete, some you press F2 from then to a boot able media

Hi Sans,

Your problem of not detecting the hard disk is because Your XP installation CD does not have drivers for the SATA hard disk, which is within your laptop. I too had the same problem but just got the problem solved yesterday. Another thing you have to do is get your Bios updated.
