Best option is to system restore from the control panel to a point when you knew that it was working.

I had the same issue and after spending WAY too long with Acer support insisting it was my ISP or router causing the problem and that the driver was up to date I found a new driver that Acer doesnt have on their site but the manufacturer does. Installed it and it works fine now. www.atheros.cz

I did just the same as salesmaster007. and worked fine. Still clueless as to wy it wont admit 1 password though. but at least now its working

Anyway, go to http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html and download the winsock fix tool. Save it to your desktop. Click run. Reboot. Fixed my problem in less than two minutes.

Ive got exactly same problem wiv my acer 1642. Apparently I have excellent wireless connection but whats the point if it cant connect to the net???

Presumably you've checked that your firewall permits access. And tried putting in a favoured DNS address rather than relying on 'automatic'.

its sounds like all of ur wireless card have failed just happened to my brother. i you wipe ur drive and reinstall the operating system and ur computer wont recognize the device its time to go get a new card

Well, I found the problem. When I got the Acer, I opened it up without connecting it to my router. Since I couldn't get anyone from Acer I decided to reload everything from scratch again as if I never had done it before. This time, it was connected to my Verizon Wireless router. Voila, it worked I had internet service. The secret to success is to have it hooked to the wireless router when you open your brand new Acer Aspire One. Good luck, I 'm enjoying this baby since December 26th.

I have the same prblm on my other computer xp sp2, i can connect with my to other computers on wireless network..on pc and my laptop works just fine.. I tried everything.. also manually insert ip,subnet mask, gateway, dns.. and still doesnt work.. I can open my setup of modem when I type 192.168.1.1 in my browser (mozilla) but i cant open google or any other site :S
also i tried to ping via cmd.exe my modem and google and there says i recived 4files 100% lost: 0

i have this problem also, it happened once i added more ram to it and i frogot to put a screw in fro the netwrok card, i think the best think to do is to open and reconnect the network card, if you xp u should disable it and wait sometime it should work

Using an averatec running linux I have the same problem, but it varies from site to site. At home it will stay connected for about 1/2 hr. and then stop. At a couple internet cafes it stays connected without a break. At a local library, it will stop about every two mins. So it is unlikely just my machine. Also I have dual boot and have experiemented with a windows connection and that just stays on no matter where I am. So I suspect there is something wrong with the linux driver. I found too that a direct connect via wire just stays on all the time. The wifi card is a ralink.

I have found that it can be quickly reconnected using the following. Fist go and disable the wireless, then enable it and then reconnect. I have been searching around and the problem seems frequent, but no specific solution to be found.

I had the same problem with my acer laptop last year, saying its connected to a wireless connection but not allowing me to browse, sign into MSN messenger etc. I thought it was my university's wireless connection that was the problem so I took it to one of the uni's IT guys. He played around with the laptop's settings for about half an hour and finally got it to work, I'm not sure what it was he did though. I had no problems for over a year but all of a sudden its started doing it again, I haven't changed anything major on my laptop recently so I have no idea why its playing up again all of a sudden. Its driving me mad!

I had that problem over a year ago when I bought the wonderful (lol) acer 4520 for my wife. Now I had to strip the drive and I loaded xp instead of vista. I am having the same problems again. connects to the modem but cant get on internet with wireless or hard line. I cant remember what I did exactly to fix it all I know is there was a list of check boxes and I had to select one for it to work. now I need to figure it out again.
