I had the same problem, I tried lots of solutions but none did work, at last I got a "Live windows" CD and copied all my data in an external driver and then restored my laptop..

ok so im no expert, this problem happened to me and i spent countless hours looking for a way to fix it...after everything i tried failed i got my old laptop and took out the hard drive of each laptop and swapped them around...then booted up both laptops and they both started with no problems! so i swapped back the hard drives into there original laptops and it works now... no idea how that fixed it but it did haha

I had the same problem...what i did (if you can log into your user) is I pressed Ctrl + Alt + Delete (or Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and opened Task Manager and clicked on the "Applications" tab. At the bottom I clicked the "New Task" button and typed in "explore.exe" (without the quotation marks) and it wasn't black anymore. WHen i shut it off, i then powered it back on and it proceeded to be black again, so do explore.exe again until you find a complete fix.
Hope it helped.

MY SOLUTION WORKS: i had the same problem on my laptop. when the black screen appeared i started task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and on processes there were 4 explorer.exe running. after i closed one of them the desktop appeared. everything is running normal, except that all of the normal startup apps were closed
