Hi Abbhi,

Any information on this problem? AM having the same problem.

The boot sequence is not adhered when CD is inserted and rebooted. In my case, it asks to "press any key to boot from CD". But pressing any key does not make any difference, it boots from disk.

Any clue, anybody?

Cheers,

Hi,

I found the solution, at least in my case.

I was using an USB keyboard. Changed it to PS2, it works. So, basically, it depends if your PC is compatible to most of the USB2 keyboards available now-a-days, where as the older PC may have USB slots but are for USB1.

So, try using a PS2 keyboard. Should work.

Cheers,

The problem seems to lie in the fact that the laptop has an SATA HDD. SATA drivers must be loaded before machine can boot from CD drive---unlike an EIDE drive which is easily detected by the BIOS.
Loading drivers this way can be done by changing the BIOS boot order, then loading the drivers from a floppy or USB drive. Unfortunately, floppy drives on laptops are not common. Another way I've found is to slipstream your drivers onto your boot CD or boot USB stick---these days a cheap 8 or 16GB stick can easily accommodate WinXP. You can use BartPE or nLITE to build the boot portable device.

I had this problem with my Toshiba Satellite 1805-S274. I solved it by swapping the memory cards within each other on the slots.

I also had the same problem, I tryed everything,,, everything. The only way I could load Xp into this laptop was to first load the "boot disks" for XP into the machine via a USB floppy, then the CD rom started, and loaded the Xp in. I latter found out that the bios was out of date, and most likely could not be updated because of it's age. I git the XP in that way. I played with that to start first but it never did..Hope it helps
