Hello,
I am running a Windows 64 bit os on a quad core chipped computer with 4 gigs of RAM. I am not able to run some essential software for my business on 64 bit. My question is: Can I install 32 bit on this machine and be able to run my 32 bit programs ? If I can, how can I do it ? the machine came preloaded with 64 bit Vista, and I have purchased a disk with 32 bit Vista on it..... ANY help is appreciated. Thanks :)

Configuration: Windows Vista 64 bit Quad Core Processor; 4,096 MB RAM
Internet Explorer 7.0

Yes, you can; just install it as a 2nd operating system. I'm facing the same problem, but am trying to figure out if I can restart my computer now that I made my 2nd hard drive "active". Does anybody know how to turn it off, or what will happen if I restart my computer with a 64-bit Vista installation disk?

You can select which one boots up in the boot file.

the boot file is: boot.ini

if your going to mess around with it though. you should really make a copy first.

but go into your control panel than system than advanced

than you can click on system recovery (settings)

there you can select your default os or go into edit to edit the boot.ini
there you can delete one of the boot sequence lines incase you don't use one of those os.

If the dual boot is only using vista then boot.ini is surely not relevant. BCD and BCDEDIT will be what you need to look at
