Not booting from CD-Rom

Hi,

My CD-ROM is detecting and working fine from the existing OS.
Now I want to partition my HD and reinstall OS.

I changed the boot priority in Bios settings to CD-ROM first.
It is not booting from the CD-ROM, when CD-ROM and HD are connected individually as PM & SM.

I tried all possibilities and I observed one strange thing like,
When I removed HD connection, then it is booting from the CD-ROM.
in this case I could not go forward to make my HD partitions.

What could be the reason for this.
Please help to resolve the issue.

Hello,

have you checked the pin selection on the hard disk if it is set to master and for the cd rom just try to put the pin selector on slave.

if the two are connected through the same cable and the two are on the master pin then this will be causing it not to load from the cd rom

Thanks.
HD and CD-ROM are connected to different IDEs through different Data Cables.
HD and CD-ROM connected as PM/SM respectively.

When i setup in bios boot from cd rom after restarting the pc it is automatically change boot from floppy so i caant boot my system from cd rom support
