Hello,

Recently I've been trying to log into my hotmail and check my email. However, when I do it takes me to a page that says to enter my password and re-agree to all the privacy statement and such.

I've done tis over and over, and all it does it refresh the page; not letting me in.

My Messenger works just fine, so could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Found this solution and it worked for me by running all the way through:

1. The date on your computer needs to be set properly -- double click the clock verify that
the time and date are set.
2. Clear your IE cache and cookies -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then
Internet Options, then click the Delete Files button, and when that's complete click the
Delete Cookies button.
3. Check your IE Security settings -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then
Internet Options, then Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section, and verify that "Check
for server certificate revocation" is unchecked. Also verify that 'Use SSL 2.0' and Use SSL
3.0' is checked, then click OK.
4. Click Start, then Run, and enter the following:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
then click OK
5. Restart messenger and IE

Great,

Thanks so much. Issue solved after 1 week of total impossibility to read any message from the inbox.

After doing only Delete temporary internet files, delete cookies, uncheck server certification revoc....

Congratulations to you BUT NOT TO HOTMAIL TECHNICAL OFFICE

Hi ,
I've been facing the same problem and tried all the steps upto running "regsvr32 softpub.dll" but it just wont work.
have also tried to download the lastest version of livemail and msn - still cant login to either.

Pls help if anyone knows a solution. Here's a recap of the problem
- I logon to hotmail with my email and password
- The next page comes up mentioning that my password has expired and i need to change it.
- I provide old password and the new ones but the page only refreshes without any action
- I've tried doing this over and over again but without luck

This is a 10 year old account and has a lot of information in it.

I'd appreciate any help with this. Hotmail does not have any tech support for this leaves me feeling helpless !!!

Thanks in advance,

Jugs

Hotmail changed from HTTP to POP3. Here's the instructions:

Forward Print
Add your e-mail account to Microsoft Outlook Express
If you have a Windows Live Hotmail Plus subscription, you can use a POP3 (POP3, or Post Office Protocol 3, is a protocol that's used to retrieve e-mail from a mail server.) server to add your Windows Live Hotmail account to Microsoft Outlook Express and access messages there. If you download and install Windows Live Mail, you can add your Windows Live Hotmail account to Windows Live Mail and access your messages and contacts there.

Use a POP3 server to add your Windows Live Hotmail account to Outlook Express
In Outlook Express, click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.
Click Add, and then click Mail.
Type your name, and then click Next.
Type your full Windows Live Hotmail e-mail address, and then click Next.
Enter the following information, and then click Next:
In the My incoming mail server is a box, click POP3.
In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server box, type pop3.live.com.
In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, type smtp.live.com
Type the account name and the password for your Windows Live Hotmail account. Clear the Remember password check box unless you're the only person with access to the computer. Make sure that the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box isn't selected.
Click Next, and then click Finish.
In the Internet Accounts window, click the Mail tab, click the Windows Live Hotmail account that you added, and then click Properties.
Click the Advanced tab, under Server Port Numbers, enter the following information, and then click OK:
In the Incoming server (POP3) box, type 995.
In the Outgoing server (SMTP) box, type 25.
Under both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3), select the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) check box.
Click Close.

Well, that may work for some, but for me? NAW... I followed you step by step...and I am not a novice. But nothing works. All that happens is that "sign in" window opens with my account name/password and when I click receive, it opens again...and again...and again. I can't send nor receive. There has to be a better way! lol I know you are knowledgeable, but this just is NOT working for everyone!

EXCUSE ME, BUT YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT AND NEED TO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT. ALL ONE MUST DO IS DOWNLOAD & INSTALL WINDOWS LIVE MAIL. IT'S FREEEEEEEE! IT WORKS ALONG THE LINES OF OUTLOOK EXPRESS AND IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY CONFIGURE TO YOUR HOTMAIL OR MSN OR .LIVE EMAIL ACCOUNTS. PLUS OTHERS AS WELL. IT'S THOSE LIKE YOU WHO ARE 'KNOW IT ALLS' WHO DISCOURAGE THOSE WHO ARE LESS EXPERIENCED WITH COMPUTERS/PROGRAMS. NOW, QUIT POSTING THAT KIND OF CRAP ON HERE. YOU DO IT ALL THE TIME! FUNNY.... WHAT I SUGGESTED WORKED PERFECTLY FOR SEVERAL OTHERS, AND THEY SAID SO IN THE COMMENTS. AS A MATTER OF FACT, EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO TRIED THAT SUGGESTION HAD SUCCESS. NOW......... SHOOO!

I've had that problem in the past with Hotmail as well but dumping my browser's cache seemed to correct it. What's really frustrating me is your suggestion of Window's Live doesn't work on one of my computers. I have three set up alike - including the same firewall settings - but one won't allow me to type anything in the place for me replies. In fact, the reply area doesn't even recognize "rolling over" plain text and copying it.

Windows Live just doesn't want to work - period.

Things attempted:
1) Reinstalling Windows Live (Did it three times with same results)
2) Dumping browser cache (tho I'm not using a browser; I'm using Windows Live)
3) Replying to email already received (same thing happens for old mail as new previously unreceived mail)
4) Another computer (Like I said about, two side-by-side desktops using identical Windows XP settings act completely opposite and one can do Windows Live just fine)
5) Turning off all firewalls and even anti-virus applications
6) Opening Hotmail by going to the site (Outlook Express sometimes refused to get mail and it was because I hadn't actually opened my Hotmail account directly in some time, like it needed re-verification)
7) Using Vista (The laptop's Windows Live collects and replies to email normally)

This issue is important only for the computer that won't do it correctly because I've switched the other desktop to "offline only" status for safety of undocumented new art I create. I'd switch 'safe computers' but can't load all that's needed in the other computer for various reasons, one software copying limitations.

Any possible help in this matter would be most appreciated and I'll get the message, thru Hotmail, on my Vista laptop - the only machine that uses Vista with dubious success.

Well, I solved it by simply installing Windows Live Mail. It's a GREAT program! It will automatically configure your hotmail settings, etc. It works EXACTLY like Outlook Express with a few more "extras". I love the program, have had no issues at all since I began using it. I hope it works for you. Go to WindowsLive.com and you will find a download. Or google it.
Good luck!

I'd like to say a very important secret on the world. We are human on the world and we are here just because we have to help to each other and actually practically giving happiness and good fortune to others honestly. It means if we are trying to do something at work, at home...we must believe strongly to have benefit for giving more happiness to other people without thinking just your benefit. Maybe this would be ridiculous because somebody think I am crazy just I 'd like to think other's happiness, no on the contrary whenever you do something with this thought actually you will get automatically own happiness and you would get your benefit from nature. Why? Because this nature based on our negative/positive action and each action has an own consequence (positive/negative). So others happiness is yours happiness and others sadness is yours sadness which have come from you. That is why if we have war, violence in other side of world actually misfortune situation would spread to whole of world. We could not be in rest and in peace if other side of world's people have a desperately situation. Final result is, every one has responsible for their thoughts/deeds/talks. So the best way is just doing positive thought/deed/talk in throughout our life.
Good luck for everyone
