Hello,
My iPod Nano, 5th generation, is less than 1 month old. I purchased it as a Christmas gift for my 15 year old daughter. Today, while the iPod was charging, my daughter found her iPod, while still plugged in, with a white screen. She held down the Menu and Center buttons, and then the iPod screen turned completely black. We have connected it to the computer (via USB port) and computer nor iTunes recongizes the iPod. It does not appear to be charging, it will not turn on, and we are at a total loss.
Please help with any/all suggestions....
Thank you!

I went to the Apple website and found out the fix to this situation because mine had the same problem. You need to hold down the Center button and the Menu button together for at least 10 seconds and it will come on. Make sure its unplugged.

Hope this helps!
