Hello,
I have just backed up my Maxtor Onetouch 4 external drive from my windows Vista laptop. I would like to sue the same unit for my Apple Laptop and also another laptop with Windows XP system. How to proceed. Is a multiple partition recommended? If so how to do it with the existing backup. Otherwise a detailed instruction for formatting and preparing for the three or four systems ('98, XP, Vista and Mackintosh). Will the backups from the differrent units be recognised by all the computers for reading, writting and installing from them? Email answer will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, look men, I have and Maxtor One Touch Mini 320GB, and the only way to work in Windows and Macintosh is making a partition of the disc, one in NTFS and other in FAT 32, because MAC can read, but not write on NTFS but in FAT 32 can write and read,

Hope this works for you

I have a mac and pc and have a 250GB maxtor one touch at my work. I am on a network so what I did was hook up my maxtor drive to my pc and then share the drive on our network. I can access my maxtor drive on my mac as a shared drive via my pc. That allows me to read AND write to the maxtor from my mac. If I hook up my maxtor directly to my mac, I cannot write to the drive, only read.

So if you have your mac and pc networked together, you might want to consider that route.
