WELL..
Honestly speaking i myself have removed it like a hundred times and no damage has been done to it...
so i dont think that is the reason..

I have the same problem - pendrive registers when plugged in and light on it comes on but when I try to open it I am asked to insert a disk into drive. Have you found a solution to the problem?

This has worked for me on a number of computers with the problem of a USB flash drive not showing up or showing up and showing the "access denied" msg. Simple solution:

Remove all usb drives. Reboot computer. Log back in. Go to services and do the following:
1. Find the "Removable Storage" service.
2. Change it to manual.
3. Stop the service.
4. Reboot and log back in.
5. Plug your flash drive back in to a USB port.
You should now not only see it, but it will be accessible and useful for storage.
