Dell inspiron 6400 power button not working

Hello,
i have dell inspiron 6400. changed hdd recently but............

i cannot start my laptop with POWER BUTTON rather i have to press MEDIA DIRECT BUTTON to
start my system.

Please help as my power button is alright. i have checked it.........
my specs are WINDOWS XP WITH SP3 ......google chrom...........

Dear Imran,

Please check whether the problem is not coming from the

battery that you are using.
