Hello,
I have a brand new HP Pavilion a6518f with windows vista. I just bought this computer 2 weeks ago. When I'm working on the computer, it works fine but when I leave it idle or put it in sleep mode the computer shuts off by itself. This has happened 15 times in the 2 weeks that I have had this computer. The problem report shows the problem event name as servicehang. The computer sent the problem report but shows no solution. I'm not that proficient with the computer, should I take the computer back to the store or is this a solvable problem. I would appreciate any advice.
San

Configuration: Windows Vista
Internet Explorer 7.0

Hey San..

Today was a awfull day for me and my computer. I was playing Gears of War when all of a sudden my pc also just shutdown by itself. When i push the power button it goes on for 1 second and just shuts down again. I took it in and they fond out that it was my powersupply that was faulty. But worst of all it spiked my 9800GT aswell. So my card and powersupply is dead.

How did you find out that your power supply was faulty and what brand of power supply do you have. I have been having the same problem on my pc.

I have had problems with sleep mode, reseting my pc. I'm also running Vista, when I turned off sleep mode, it solved my problem. Vista is very stable against resets. If your problem persists after turning off sleep mode, check your connection to your on/off switch, and any other lose plugs or connections. You might also have to re-install Vista, or run a virus program like AVG, also run registry doctor, or a good registry fixing program, the problem could be in your registry. Start with these items, then get back to me..............
