Computer wont start up

Hello,

im assembling a computer for a friend and when i switch it on it would light up for about 30seconds and the nothing on the screen it would simply turn off. can anyone help me in this issue?

i have tried alomost everything but still the same problem

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

Try unplugging all the stuffs keeping only the cpu and the memory modules on the motherbaord and see if it works correctly. also disconnect the hard disk it wont boot up to windows but leave it on the dos mode
