Question

Hello, can someone please help me I ve tried a couple of things that people stat works but I have no luck. I am trying to get sound on internet explorer again. I can listen to sound on windows explorer but when I try to hear a video or  hear a song on you tube, mtv.com, my space, or any other kind of website it does not work please help. Thanks in advance.

Here's the solution to your problem:

Copy this text into notepad (starting with Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00) and save it to your desktop using the name "missing.reg":

After saving the file, go to START > RUN > and type 'regedit' and then click OK
In the registry, select FILE > IMPORT and select the "missing.reg" file from your desktop
You should get a confirmation that it was imported successfully.

This is an instant fix ... your speakers should now work for web sounds, no reboot required.

Just to tell you, you need to include the "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00" at the very beginning of the notepad file

so it's like:

ive been there and done everything to fix the sound in my internet...in youtube for example...Im not sure if this one will help you but ive tried it and worked for me....First thing you'll do...Open CONTROL PANEL. SOUND,SPEECH AND AUDIO DEVICE. And click Adjust the system volume...In VOLUME if you can see NO AUDIO DEVICE...Click VOLUME...AND change the Default device name...for example  Moden #0 line Playback is in there change it to Realtek AC97 Audio ( im using windows xp) or you audio device...change also the Sound recording to Realtek AC97 Audio  and click Apply...and thats it...open a video try if  it has a sound...I hope I've helped

all I did to fix the problem was uninstall all my audio drivers and my audio codec (ac3 filter) than installed all them and installed my ac3 filter back on the comp and all things where well. I have tried everything and nothing worked this was my only fix... best of luck to all...

All you have to do is to uninstall your audio driver, restart and then install it again. You don't have to import any registry keys or any other things but just do what I said in the first sentence. Got it? Thanks.

Finally all working!

I tried the wavemapper stuff - didn't work
I tried the huge registry edit dump from this post - didn't work

This did.

My symptom:  All browsers don't play sound with certain video streams. Flash videos were ok but most other video wasn't including media player embedded pages.

Solution:

Go to the following registry folder: (type regedit under run command in windows)

goto

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\NodeCLSIDs\{95037DA1-6ED9-4B27-8CFF-9AD3DFB0B2F2}] 

double click on 'Auto Insert" on the right side of the box. 

Change the Value from "1" to "0" and click OK.

The below is an accumulation of two fixes that work and some clarifications that may be useful for some.  hope it woiks.






1.  do search for msacm32.drv in Windows folder
2.  ensure that the above file (msacm32.drv)  is at least in your Windows\Sysytem32 folder.  If it is go to step #9
3.  If it isn't, but there is a copy somewhere else...copy it to the Windows\system32 folder.
4.  if it's not in \windows at all, do a search of My Computer. If you find it, copy it to your Windows\system32 folder.
5.  if you can't find it anywhere,  go to another computer with Windows XP installed on it...and search>copy to floppy or usb or cd or dvd>then copy it to your computer.
6.  if you don't know anyone that has a computer with XP on it,  you can get it from your installation cd.  Google how you do that.

7.  test out for sound on internet...utube is a good place to test with.
8.  If msacm32.drv was in your Windows\32 folder  (or you put it there) and still no joy...read on
9.  right click and >copy< the text below.  NOTE:  COPY FROM the word Windows below all the way to "aux3"="wdmaud.drv".  Include from the word Windows to "aux3"="wdmaud.drv" in your copy.  In other words, copy everything (change nothing) starting after the big space below this sentence and all the way to "aux3"="wdmaud.drv".

If you've copied this too, you've gone too far

10.  Open a new notepad document (or use any regular word processor).
11.  right click and choose paste.  You should now see what you copied from above.
12. Go to File, choose save as.  Save as "missing.reg" to your desktop (or anywhere you like, it's easiest to find on the desktop is all).
13. NOTE********VERY, VERY IMPORTANT.

          YOU MUST INCLUDE THE QUOTATION MARKS RIGHT IN THE NAME OR IT WON'T BE IDENTIFIED AS A REG FILE.  IT MAY LOOK AS THOUGH I'VE JUST USED THE QUOTES FOR EFFECT, BUT YOU MUST TYPE THEM WHEN YOU TYPE THE NAME INTO THE FILENAME BOX.

14.  Navigate to your desktop and double click on the new missing.reg file.  A dialogue box should come up askinf if you are sure...Yada Yada.

15.  choose Yes or OK or whatever.
16.  If you get confirmation that the values were added to the registry....go test out on Utube again.

TO ANYONE WHO DOESNT THINK ALLI'S WAY WORKSSS: TRY REBOOTING. Although alli says you do not need to reboot, I had to. At first my sound still didnt work, after I rebooted, my sound did work.
