Hello,

I did the partitions by installing new Vista first. And when i tried to install Windows XP, it said the same error
"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer - supplied diagnostic or setup program.

I created a second partition to install xp with vista preinstalled already. I restart my computer and boot from CD with XP Pro installation then I got an error:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it
is properly configured and terminated.
Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer

Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0X0000007B (0XF78D2524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

After researching, one of the posts says that I need to disable SATA driver which I did. I changed the boot sequence and made CD/DVD rom first but when I reboot, I got a message No bootable device.

What do I need to do?

Please help.

Thank you
AJ

hi..
big problem .. youare facing ..hmmm

well

download AHCI SATA Controller (advance host controller driver for SATA) from any of the menufectureres
i.E go to HP.com type AHCI Controller in the search box .......
download the softpaq file

run it .....with administrator rights ..
insert flopy into flopy dirve ....us external USB based Flopy drive if flopy drive not installed
it will write the AHCI on the folpy you provide..

boot with XP
press F6 during the driver load phase in XP installation
insert the flopy in flopy drive
pres S if asked by setup
choose the AHCI Driver
press enter

problem solved

this is the only way to install XP or 2000 etc

actualy vista loose 40% market share because of XP, so microsoft cotracted vendoers to change harddisks to bit shift mode (old formats like LBA "logical block addressing mode" to this new one) which are coming with vista preinstalled machines

may the force be with you

Hi everyone,

My laptop is VAIO NS235. I had the same problem installing XP on Vista. every time a blue screen with an error about Hard drive. even sony supports did not provide a proper solution. Ridiculously, Sony laptop does not provide the option of changing SATA status on Bios either. So I found SATA drivers from Vaio website from here:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNNS235JW

then I did steps as mentioned here:

http://bharathreddyt.wordpress.com/2009/01/27/install-xp-on-your-vista-pc/

It really worked!

Note: after i installed Xp, I could not connect to internet wireless and therefore could not download EasyBCD to switch between OS, so I had to use recovery CDs to boot from Vista. Therfore I suggest to download the following first: 1. SATA Driver 2. nlite 3. EasyBCD 4. Other XP drivers provided by manufacturer. Then start to install XP .

Have fun!

3-ofter creating this cd . install that and jhave fun.
if u can not create XP boot cd .
1- open your xp's cd . then copy all files in a file.
