Hi..
big problem .. youare facing ..hmmm

well

download AHCI SATA Controller (advance host controller driver for SATA) from any of the menufectureres
i.E go to HP.com type AHCI Controller in the search box .......
download the softpaq file

run it .....with administrator rights ..
insert flopy into flopy dirve ....us external USB based Flopy drive if flopy drive not installed
it will write the AHCI on the folpy you provide..

boot with XP
press F6 during the driver load phase in XP installation
insert the flopy in flopy drive
pres S if asked by setup
choose the AHCI Driver
press enter

problem solved

this is the only way to install XP or 2000 etc

actualy vista loose 40% market share because of XP, so microsoft cotracted vendoers to change harddisks to bit shift mode (old formats like LBA "logical block addressing mode" to this new one) which are coming with vista preinstalled machines

may the force be with you

Hey i did the same in Toshiba laptop and its running fine.

Only this is go to BIOS settings whn ur sys starts and there you can fine SATA Drive with two

properties in which one of it is AHCI. Change AHCI to the other one and try to boot with XP CD.

Hi.
I have tried with Acer 5920 laptop and it worked.
Change AHCI to the other one IDE and try to boot with XP CD.
IT IS WORKING.
PS:Choose format option but beware you could loose your drivers.

Cheers.

HELLO BRO,

IN hp laptop there is a configuration in the bios you need to disable "native sata support"in order to install windows, ithink its the same with other brand of laptop but if you cant find that configuration you need to download the ahci to support windows xp to install.

U could just disable the sata software from the bios sittings.

It would work.
