I did the partitions by installing new Vista first. And when i tried to install Windows XP, it said the same error

i have sony vaio T2330 laptop it was vista based with 200gb hdd, i reformat the hard disk drive using win98, now i want to install winxp sp2, but there is an error hdd not found or make sure its power on, when i explore bios there is no option to disable sata there or enable, only option is to move the optical hdd, usb flash, up and down now there is one more thing that can be enable or disable which i tried both that external hdd drive and network boot, i make enable, disable both but it dosent work, same error hdd not found. what is the soultion of it. I browsed the web and came accross your great suggestion. I quickly followed your notes and it worked pefectly.
