Hello,
I have a 160 Gb Wd portable disk..I use sony Vaio that runs Vista..I usually backup most of my data on portable disk..but today when i connected my disk there was a error stating that i need to format disk in order to acess it.
When i went through My computer to acess the disk.. it said windows can not acess the disk..
So im all heartbroken what went wrong here? how i can fix this without formatting my disk?
and if there is no solution .. then please tell me how can avoid it from happening again as i wud like to use it again.
I remove disk through safely remove programme so there is no chance of corruption during removal...
It was running fine couple of days back....
So please help.. a solution so i can avoid formatting, and from it happening again and yes if i can recover data?
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0
Cheers and we look forward to your Forum Favourites selections!

I took my hdd to a relative's place and Windows7 fried it! It worked fine the first time we plugged it in, but after restarting Windows7, the OS said I have to reformat the drive. Later when I finally accepted what happened and tried to proceed, it said "Failed to complete the format". I tried again with XP and GParted which all failed, so I checked it with Linux badblocks and I have > 244,000,000 bad blocks! I know it was fine the day before because I formatted it and copied all the data to it. It's not the first time a Windows OS has fried my portable hdd, I'm really fed up with Windows and never again will I plug my hdd into a Microsoft Operating system, that software just cannot be trusted! |
