Hibernation problem

Hello,

Every time I put my computer on hibernation, it simply shuts down the system. This is annoying when the programs actually running are closed and I have to run them over again. my computer is brand new so I don’t think that it comes from a hardware defect.
Help!

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

How you put your system to hibernate? I think you have your HIbernating button configured to shutdown.
I mean i have my main power button for hibernation .. if i press it lightly it hibernates but if i press it for longer period of time it shuts down.
Just check your power options in the control panel
