Dear

as you said, I formated my portable hard disk eventhough when I started coping data from my laptop to hard disk. It copied some file after that it stoped with following given message

"Cannot copy "FILE NAME": Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name"

and when I want to delete file from portable hard disk, it deleted some file and stoped with following given message

"Cannot remove folder or file "Name": The directory is not empty"

I think above description may better explain you problem

I am waiting your response

thanks

Dear Sanjay,

This problem comes when the datacable you are using to connect the hardrive is Losesly connected or is internally damaged,Please take one short datacable and connect your hard drive using that and check.I think this will solve your problem.

Rahul SIngh

Try a different USB port, the one you're using may not supply enough power - in particular, if you're using a port on the front of the computer, try one on the back, or vice versa.

Dear,
this is happening because your office PC configuered as external hard disk write protected, contact your administrator to remove write protection

This is a Microsoft Windows bug by explorer.exe. Maybe re-starting explorer.exe would be enough. Take task manager and kill explorer.exe; then in the task manager using Run window, re-start explorer.exe.Then take windows explorer and try to delete files.
Thanks,
Robin Alex

Hi All,

Do the following processs

1. Run check disk
For example, your external drive is E in wiindows explorer (Either pen drive....etc )
c:>chkdsk E: /R

This will fix most of your Issues.

2. Windows Security Issue.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810881

If these two don't work, run any Diagnostic tools (Westernal digitl) which comes with External hard cd.

Hope this will help....

HI
I had the same problem and took the USB "extension cable" off and just plugged in my ext HD directly.

And I can now delete rename files etc.
