I have a similar problem. After a reinstall, all was good. After the last update, every time I log in, widows asks me to activate and started counting down 7 days. I click yes activate only to be told it is already activated, but it continues to give me the message and countdown. Any ideas?

Looks like the new activation check is something different since march 2009...

try to boot using F8, you get into safe mode menu.
there select booting with a command prompt.
(I pressed ESC on questions during booting asking me to load things, don't know if that's needed)
Log in as administrator, and you can use Internet Explorer or other programs

Now you can at least acces your files, and contact the internet to fix your problem

Is sixpack seriously telling him to uninstall vista service pack two? is it just me or did he say he was running xp? just curious, because if he did sixpack is stupid and can't read. maybe if he spent his time being intelligent instead of retarded. i've had this problem for a while now too, and that one thing where you edit the registry didnt work for me. so i'm still looking. yay. thank god for google.
