ITunes won't copy cover art onto my iPod

Another iTunes problem... I just managed to download iTunes but when I plugged in my iPod it was re-synced which doubled all my songs! I deleted the doubles which was frustrating enough, but now the cover art that used to be on my iPod isn't there. It's still in my library. The art used to be on my iPod, why won't it download? I read about making sure that all the songs in the same album have the same artwork, and they do!!!! It just says 'Synchronizing', but my iPod stays the same! Please help!Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 8.0
