Yes, u have to buy a low cost 10/100 mbps hub ( may be Rs. 300-400/-), and connect the lan cord to one port of hub and then two computers independantly through hub by making suitable cat-6 straight cable with RJ-45 connectors.
best of luck...

You should connect one pc on USB port, for that if you have to setup the usb driver for your modem/router and then you can connect that pc by usb port. for 2nd pc you should run network cable i.e. cat-5 or cat-6 with RJ-45 conector both side. that is not big issue. the both pc will share their resorces as well as can access internet connection too

Please don't ever buy any switch just for two computers.. you can use an usb cable for one and an ethernet cable for the other simultaneously... one of my friend is bsnl connection on two comps.

Hi

For your purpose, you need to buy a wireless router like Dlink DIR-300 model which cost about Rs.1900. You can connect 4 computers from the router either through wireless or through cable. Once you setup the router it is not compulsory to turn on other PC to connect net, you have to keep the router turned on to access net. Its very easy to setup and manage. Moreover it is highly secured with inbuilt firewall and also you can use password to protect unauthorised access.

Hope this would solve your problem

You can definitely connect two computers through BSNL Modem Type I.

One computer (the nearby one) has to be connected through USB port.
Second Computer (far away) has to be connected through Ethernet Cable through same modem.

But the limitation in this type of connection is that Only "ONE COMPUTER can use internet at ONE TIME."
