Not recognising usb

Hi I have actually some problems with my computer it wont recognize any usb device that is my external hard disk or my pen drives it will recognize only my usb scanner any solution would be the most welcomed.

Configuration: Windows Vista
Firefox 3.0.1

Download and run USB Review from www. nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html. Ive noticed that some motherboards especially those with sis chipset.
