Dvd rom not respondingClosed

Question

Hello,
3 months ago while i was on my computer, my little sister just switched off the computer by the plug. Then after a few hours i switched it on. After that day my computer now just does not read any dvd rom cd's or movies anymore. Can some one please help, wha happend to my computer and what can i do about it?

does the drive respond to you like open and close

and still detected in your system?

go to device manager and check the status

reinstall if needed

then provide more information

I'm having the same problem. My cd rom will open and close and it sounds like it's trying to load, but then doesn't. The cd rom shows up in the device manager. I've uninstalled and it reinstalled with no luck. It does not show up in my libraries though. There is no D drive shown. Any suggestions?
