Indows XP installs but then not present after

Hello,
I have installed a new HD . I then partitioned, activated , formatted and installed XP. XP goes thru install process , reboots several times and after final reboot the system canot find boot drive ?? Have gone thru the process several times..
Any ideas?

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.5.5

please check the ide 40/80 pin cable

and reset your bios settings also
