External verbatim 500GB hard drive

Hello,
I'm having a similar problem as most of these others.My Verbatim 500GB external hard drive suddenly stopped working.I also got the message that said the usb device is not recognised.I'v tried this HDD on my Mecer PC,Toshiba Laptop and my work HP Laptop.I have a lot of info on this HDD can someone give me advice as to what I should do.

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 8.0

Hi there,

i will then suggest you to change the usb cable

or the external casing completely and move the hard drive to it

this will solve the issue
