No output sound from hpdv6915

Hello,my computer crash, when i got it fix there was no sound coming from the out put (stereo jacks), i have to now manually select the sound device to be played. i do not have the CD that came with my computer so i cannot reprogram the computer. need some advice can you please help.

Configuration: Windows Vista
Firefox 3.5
