I got the WD external hard drive for my birthday and I can't get the 360 to recognize it.... and now I'm wondering if I can even use the WD 1T external hard drive on my xBox 360? Does anyone know?

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.5.4

That may answer all your questions. :)

More than likely just the drive is formatted with the wrong filesystem, or you're trying to use it to store stuff from xbox live. You can only use an external drive for video/music/media files.

Yeah, I was trying to save things from the xbox to the hard drive, in case the 360 ever crashed... but I guess I can't do that and have to actually buy the xBox 360 hard drive for it.... argh...
