USB KEYBOARD NOT WORKING

Hello,
I HAVE A LAPTOP OF HCL AND I M USING THE VIDOW VISTA HOME BASIC AND I M USING THE ZIPPYS EXETENAL USB KEYBORD WHEN I ATTACHED KEYBOARD IT WILL PRINT A ERROR MESSAGE "one of the USB attached to this computer has mulfunctioned and windows does not recognize it " tell me how i can solve this problem

Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

Hi there,

swap the usb port and plug it to other one

and does the keyboard work on other pc?

please give more information
