Vaio w sp pro vill not boot

Hello,
When I start my VAIO (xp pro) goes in to the screen with the safe mode options and feezes there.

I f I hit F5 while trying to boot goes to the same screen with safe mode options, the cursor moves to whichever option I select and that's it, hangs there.

Any suggestions please.

Configuration: SONY VAIO xp pro, explorer 8
