SONY 16gb pendrive, now it shows 8mg

Hello,
I'm really desperate! My 16 gb pendrive now says that it just has 8mb of storage, it is almost empty, so I know I have storage room, but also the computer now says that I have to format it and when I try to do it it says that it can't be done. How do I fix it????? Please help!
