Cant play anything on vlc

Hello,
i m unable to play any thing on my vlc media player
when i open it a message appears "VLC media player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 8.0

Hai, i too en counted the same problem while playing some video clips... its not because of the player fault its because of the video clips... bec some video clips may be damaged so only ok... so you can reinstall the vlc player then it will work properly... bec i too did the same and worked.... you can get the latest vlc player in www.filehippo.com ok.....
