Hey im a little confused on how all this stuff works (read title), i thought i understood it but then i run into HUGE road blocks. I kno how to program in all the web languages, run a web server via ip address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), and use other companies sites to host my doamin name (www.yourname.com), but heres what i want to do but have no idea on how to go about it:

1) I want to host/run my own: www.yourdomain.com on my server without using my ISP or another company at all.
2) Be able to host other peoples domain names, www.yourcompanyname.com, on my server.
3) and use my servers to host my own website. (this part i already kno hwo to do)

i sort of understand how BIND works, but where i get confused is am i hosting the www.yourdomain.com or do i have to buy that "domain name" and then use BIND to tell it what to do or is BIND the software that tells the internet that www.yourdomain.com goes to this ip address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)

as you can tell im pretty confused and if someone could give me indept info on how this works i would greatly appreciate it :)

Thank you,

Internet Explorer 7.0
