You get this message when the " file extention" ( the .doc or .txt at the end of the file name) is not understood by your computer. What is the extension of your file?

A .doc file requires Microsoft Word or OpenOffice programs. You can download a Word reader program FREE from Microsoft that will allow you to view the file but, not change it.

OpenOffice is a FREE alternative to Microsoft Offfice and work GREAT.

Good Luck
