I hv 6 gb ram installed but 1.5 gb used

Hello guys,

ive a 6 gb ram ddr 3 installed on my 64-bit vista but when i checked on the directX diagnostic tools it says only 1498 mb ram is used, anyone know how to optimize my ram? i've heard that to use ram optimally there must be 64-bit vista on your pc,, but i don't see it.

here are my spec:
intel core 920 i7 2.67GHz (8cpus)
GTX 295 1gb ddr3
6 GB ram ddr3
1TB hardrive

is tht bcoz of my unfitted motherboard ?
