How does a PC detect when i insert a pendrive

Hello,
i would like to know the architecture of the computer which makes it to detect the pendrives and other devices.
can u help me out wi this??

when it is connected to a port,

it gives access to information on a specific computer

and detected by the microchip integrated on printed board
