Formating hard disk probleum

Hello,
I have 160 Gb SATA hard disk suddnely dont open the window and I try to format and to make the new partition in win98 fdisk.But the disk is not formating and don't make new partition.I try another IDE 40gb hard disk tomake master position and attach the SATA 160 gb hard disk in my computer, for few second show the SATA partitions and disappear SATA partitions.
Also SATA dard drive dont format by DM and Fdisk.
pl help me about this metter

Hi there,

boot from windows installation disk

either vista or xp then format the drive

or if already have a running pc

set the drive to be formatted as slave then

format it in disk management
