Hello,
When I boot up my Dell Inspiron 1420, I initially can see my wall paper and applications but soon after my screen goes black and only my curser is viewable. I can't access any of my applications (internet explorer, etc.) I can get to my files in the safe mode. How do I trouble shoot to determine problem and fix?

Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0, Dell Inspiron 1420, MS internet explorer
