Adsl light flashes not working though

Hello,
I have a Dlink ADSL modem that won't make connection to internet the ADSL light flashes as if it is trying but no connect, have checked settings....pushed reset....checked settings....changed line out..... checked socket....removed splitter checked socket......am stumped. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Ged

Configuration: Mac OS X
Firefox 3.5.3
