The HP Pavilion laptops, have a major issue, within the first year most of the NIC cards do bad, you take them to be repaired and most techs will tell you, they don't deal with them because of the way hp built them. I mean as for the cards you can get en external one, rather than replacing the mother board. But even when you reload vista back to its original state, the laptop will have issues with the sounds, NIC = Network Interface Card, Wireless or the Cable,
I'd say fix it and get rid of it, before something else goes bad. If you do the calls to HP or the research, yoou'll see they'll put you in line like if you were just a number. They don't take priority in satisfying the exsisting client, they take priority in getting the new client. Makes no sense to me, but that's how they work, really bad support.
