Cannot open mozilla firefox or IE

Hello,

I am using XP as my operation system.

I think I have a virus as my computer AV come up and told me to restart my computer and scan my computer as it had found a virus and could not put it in quarantine. So I did but now I cannot scan (McAfee) as I get a error message and I cannot open Mozilla or IE, but I can open Safari.

Can anybody help me?

To recover both Mozilla and IE and to find the Virus so I can remove it.

I have uninstalled both Mozilla and IE.

Dear Vlynna,

The only solution will be formatting your PC and reinstalling the OS. You won't

be able to make any back up copy though and hence will lose all the files in

your PC.

Thanks for the help so far, can I ask another question.

If I have found the virus and deleted it do I still have to format my computer?

Is there anything else I can do so that I do not have to format my computer? I find it strange that I can use Safari but not Mozilla or IE, there must be something I can do to get them to work without formatting my pc.

Do a system restore

Worked for me :)

Except I reinstalled the new AVG so it messes up my AVG :'/
