Hello,
I started the PC in SAFE MODE and now instead of just a black screen, I have a black screen with SAFE MODE in the corners. What can I do? I enabled VGA. Not sure what I'm doing. Really need help.

Configuration: Windows XP Home Edition

Hi There sorry to hear you are having problems.
You have to let us know a lot more for anyone to help you, you just cant type what little you did and expect help.
We are not mind readers we need to know
1 What computer you have and the hardware inside "If you know it"
2 Why you were starting in safe mode "did you have problems before this" is this why you were going into safe mode.
3 Was there any Error message
4 Did you load any software or updates just before this happened.
5 Has this fault just happened or happened before

I have a 4 yr old Dell desktop. I have Windows XP home edition. I turned on my PC the other day and it went to Windows page with the blue moving bar. When it should have gone on to the user name page it went black. I booted using f2 and f8 and f12 and from there I ran all the system tests and they all passed exept the keyboard. I must have missed a button. Anyway, I tried booting with SAFE MODE and VGA. Nothing. This is my first problem with this PC. Fan runs. I wriggled cables. It did tell me that Windows did not start sucessfully due to an unknown issue. It said a possible power issue or press of the reset button. Don't know. I tried to start under LAST KNOWN WORKING CONDITION too. Can you please help me.

Hi There
Thanks for the info. Sound to me like your installatin has become corupt, you might have to restore your system to factory settings. You must have another PC to be able to use this system. Let me know what discs etc. that you have for your computer and we will go from there.
