Trouble with audio on laptop

I am having trouble with the audio on my laptop and i don't know why/

At first, my there was only sound coming from my speakers and even when i plug in the headphones, they were not recognized, hence sounds were still coming out of the speakers. So I restarted my computer. I also left the headphones plugged in (I didn't think that would do anything/affect anything).

Then i tried again, and this time audio/sound was coming out of the headphones. However when i unplugged them there was no audio/sound coming out of my speakers on the laptop. So i can only hear things through my headphones. I decided to restart my laptop again and this time I have no audio at all. I'm sure why.

I have an HP pavillion and it's fairly new (2 months).

How can I fix this??

Hi there,

make a system restore

or open run and type msconfig

on general tab

select normal startup

apply and restart pc
